Your manuscript will be edited through tracked changes and comment boxes with my points summarised in a separate overview document. If you are submitting an early draft, my guidance takes the form of a structural edit. If your draft is in good shape, my guidance takes the form of a line edit.

For two years I was a manuscript assessor and editor for The Do-Not Press in London (which specalised in crime fiction). After moving to Australia I was contracted for manuscript assessment and development for WestWords, Western Sydney's Literature Development Organisation.

Independently, I've worked on many manuscripts on a freelance basis. Here are just a few of the kinds of books I’ve worked on lately, followed by testimonials.

A memoir about family violence and addiction (now published by Ventura Press).

A thriller about a woman's reluctant return to her home town (to be published in 2025 by University of Queensland Press).

A memoir-research hybrid about children with reading difficulties (now published by Hardie Grant).

A memoir that spans the many varied and exciting lives of one larger-than-life entrepreneur (now self-published).

A non-fiction book about record producers (now self-published).

A family saga (autobiographical fiction) spanning multiple voices and decades.

An ADHD memoir.

A biography about a Chinese-Australian figure.

A memoir about a chronic illness.

A sci-fi novel and a sci-fi anthology.

A memoir about a son’s death.

A gothic thriller (fiction).

Pricing (in Australian dollars)

Testimonials

“Jenny and I worked together on some early drafts of my recently published book, Wild Things: How We Learn To Read And What Can Happen If We Don’t. It was my first foray into writing for adults, and includes quite a bit of memoir, so Jenny was the perfect person to give me support when I needed it most. Jenny has a great capacity for big picture feedback, as well as helping you to find the best way to tell your story, not only to remain authentic, but also to appeal to as wide a readership as possible. She is warm, encouraging and highly professional and I couldn’t recommend her more highly.”

Sally Rippin (Wild Things published by Hardie Grant)

"Jenny gave me so much clarity and an incredible amount of direction that I had lost along the way  - too overwhelmed by a project [Off The Record: One Woman's Global Search for the Worlds Greatest Music Producers] that was 10 years in the making."

Mel Bampton (Off the Record, self-published)

"Jenny’s manuscript assessment helped me tighten up my novel and get it to the point where I’m happy to start submitting it. I was stuck and Jenny helped me to feel excited about the work, and gave me direction. She's great at praising your strengths and identifying where you need to put in work. Jenny’s feedback is thorough and thoughtful, she’s got a keen eye for clumsy prose and inconsistencies, she’ll let you know when your work is hitting the mark and when it’s losing focus. I highly recommend Jenny’s guidance to give polish, focus and depth to your work."
